We’re Not Electricians – and That’s a Good Thing
SSV Installations aren’t electricians, and that’s by design. Our expertise lies in the installation of signs and signage structures — safely, securely, and in full compliance with Australian standards. We work alongside licensed electricians to make sure every electrical connection is completed by the right trade, the right way.
Why It Matters
In signage installation, clarity about who does what is a safety issue. When a pylon, digital display, or illuminated fascia goes up, it involves multiple trades. Installers handle the structure, fixings, and mounting, while electricians handle the wiring, energising, and testing.
That separation protects everyone. It keeps installations compliant with AS/NZS 3000 (the Wiring Rules), ensures no unlicensed work takes place, and gives clients peace of mind that their asset meets every regulatory requirement.
At SSV Installations, we take that division seriously. We coordinate with electrical contractors and project managers so the whole install runs smoothly without lines being blurred.
What SSV Installations Actually Do
Our installers specialise in the physical installation of signage and supporting structures. That includes:
- Groundwork, footings, and structural mounting
- Steel, aluminium, and composite frame assembly
- Lifting, alignment, and securing of signs
- Integration with digital displays and lighting systems (without connecting power)
- On-site coordination with electricians and other trades
If a sign lights up, we make sure the structure, conduit paths, and access points are ready. Then, a licensed electrician connects and tests it.
What We Don't Do, And Why
We don’t wire or energise any part of a sign. It’s not because we can’t, it’s because electrical work must always be completed by a qualified and licensed professional. That includes:
- Running mains or low-voltage wiring
- Making electrical connections
- Installing isolators or circuit protection
- Commissioning powered signage systems
By staying in our lane, we protect everyone involved — the sign shop, the project manager, and the client.
How It Works In Practice
A typical powered signage install runs like this:
- Sign shop or project manager engages SSV Installations.
- We project manage the full install, including hiring an electrician for their part.
- We handle everything structural — from footings to fixing.
- Electricians handle power supply, terminations, and testing.
- We complete final finishing, sealant, and visual checks.
- Site is signed off with documentation confirming both structural and electrical compliance.
When each trade focuses on their area of expertise, projects stay on schedule and compliant from the ground up.
Our clients — from national brands to local councils — rely on that precision. It keeps audits clean, warranties valid, and every site safe.
